The Philippines, Delivered
June 12 marks the day the Philippines declared independence from Spain in 1898. In celebration of this day, we are paying tribute to the homeland with a multi-sensory experience: “The Philippines, Delivered.”
The second in our cultural exploration box series, “The Philippines, Delivered” will take you to the Philippines through the five senses of touch, taste, smell, sight, and hearing while
exploring some of the official, as well as unofficial, national symbols of the Philippines. Explore the taste of Mango, the national fruit, and the scent of Sampaguita, the national flower. Have fun with several vibrant stickers of popular Filipino-inspired symbols such as the Jeepney, the national vehicle, and Adobo, the national dish. Learn about the Bahay Kubo (nipa hut) as the national house through a craft and song. With the variety of multisensory experiences, families will have the opportunity to journey together through the Philippines in an enjoyable and engaging way.
And not only is June the month of Philippine Independence, but it is also Philippine Environment Month - a time to acknowledge and give effort towards the protection, enhancement, and development of the country's environment. To honor this, the box also includes an upcycled craft, transforming the mini balikbayan box that it’s shipped in into the Philippines’ National House - the Bahay Kubo. Complementing the Bahay Kubo is the “Barong Boy” sticker by @superduperworks, representing the Philippines National Costume. This adorable sticker along with four other premium Filipino-inspired stickers by Super Duper Works are a super duper fun addition to the box!
As with all of the boxes in our series, “The Philippines, Delivered” includes a Collector’s Mini Button Pin commemorating each cultural exploration. When they see this pin of a smiley Philippine sun, the kiddos won’t be able to help but smile back!
